On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time in Philadelphia to sign the document they had created. Vermont Law & Graduate School and the Vermont Bar Association are teaming up again this year to commemorate Constitution Day with a panel presentation to be held on Monday, Sept. 19 from 5 to 6 PM.
The discussion, “Toward a More Perfect Union: The Constitution in Times of Change,” will be led by a panel of eminent Vermont jurists: Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Reiber, Associate Supreme Court Justice William Cohen, and Superior Court judges, Daniel Richardson, Mary Miles Teachout (ret.) and Timothy Tomasi. Bob Fletcher, Esq., president of the VBA, will serve as moderator.
The event will be held at the Chase Center on the law school campus in South Royalton. It is free and open to the public. Attendees will get a free pocket copy of the Constitution and will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panel. Light refreshments will be served. The event will also be livestreamed here, For more information, see a copy of the flyer here.
