The VBA is hosting a remote CLE, “FEMA Individual Assistance 101 for Vermont Attorneys” on Thursday, August 10, from 11:30 to 12:30. The session will be taught by Donna K. Nelson, Community Services Manager/Emergency Management Specialist for FEMA Region 1, out of Boston and covering CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT. Nelson, who has more than 35 years of experience working in disaster recovery, including the last 12 with FEMA, will explain the basics of FEMA’s individual assistance program and its application to Vermont’s recent flooding disaster. She will provide materials, take questions, and introduce further resources. You can register here.
There is no cost for this CLE and we will be recording it for our digital library if you aren’t able to attend this Thursday or if the live event sells out (live attendance limited to 100 people).
The session is offered in support of the VBA’s Vermont Flood Relief Legal Assistance Project, which aims to provide flood victims with pro bono or low bono legal advice related to the disaster. You can read more about the Legal Assistance Project here.
We expect to be scheduling additional CLEs to educate Vermont attorneys about working with FEMA and the Small Business Administration. Keep your eye on the CLE calendar at the VBA website.
