In November of last year, Gov. Phil Scott announced the appointment of four new Vermont Superior Court Judges. The new judges are Bonnie Badgewick of Woodstock, Dana DiSano of South Burlington, Timothy Doherty of Burlington, and Laura Rowntree of South Burlington.
Rowntree and DiSano, both formerly Assistant Attorneys General, were sworn in by Vermont Supreme Court Justice Harold Eaton at a ceremony in the House Chamber of the State House on Dec. 20. Bonnie Badgewick was sworn in by Gov. Phil Scott at the Vermont Supreme Court on Jan. 7. Judge Doherty was sworn in yesterday (Jan. 8) by Gov. Scott at the Chittenden Courthouse.
Each of the ceremonies included comments from friends and supporters of the new judges along with those administering the oaths and from the new judges themselves.
With these appointments, half of all the superior court judges Gov. Scott has appointed have been women, increasing this Court’s gender diversity. Women now represent nearly 40 percent of superior court judges in the state.
Judges DiSano and Rowntree will initially be serving in Chittenden Family Court. Judge Doherty will be assigned to Chittenden Criminal Court, and Judge Badgewick will serve the family courts in Caledonia and Essex Counties.
With these new appointments, the judiciary has issued an amended Superior Judge Rotation Schedule, effective Feb. 11. Click here to see the amended schedule.
