The Vermont Bar Association congratulates attorneys Brooke Dingledine, of Valsangiacomo, Detora & McQuesten in Barre, and Seth Lipschutz, pro bono emeritus attorney with the Prisoner’s Rights Office of Vermont Defender General’s Office, as the 2024 winners of the VBA’s Pro Bono Service Award.
The Pro Bono Award is given annually by the VBA’s Board of Bar Managers to recognize attorneys who have provided extraordinary legal services to indigent and disadvantaged clients in our community.
Dingledine came to the rescue of her community in complex litigation over the placement of a pair of solar projects in a Bennington neighborhood. The integrity of the town plan was at stake, and the legal wrangling lasted seven years, with Dingledine sticking with the case on a pro bono basis to its end.
Lipschutz was renowned for his long career serving Vermont’s prison population. After logging 30 years as a public servant doing this mission-based work, in his “retirement” he has taken on significant pro bono caseload representing asylum seekers.
The awards will be presented to Lipshutz and Dingledine during the VBA’s mid-year meeting luncheon on March 29 (this Friday) at the Hilton in Burlington. Register today and be sure to congratulate our colleagues on their achievements! Here’s a link to the meeting Flyer.
