Constitution Day is an annual celebration to mark the day in 1787 when the delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia. In Vermont, the occasion has been marked by a gathering of legal experts, students, and the public at Vermont Law and Graduate School to talk about major issues facing our democracy. This year, the theme is “Voices of Democracy”, and plans are set for a thought-provoking discussion, open to all.
The Constitution Day event will be held at the Chase Center at Vermont Law and Graduate School in South Royalton on Sept. 17, 2024 from 5 to 6 PM. Panelists include the Chief Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court, Paul Reiber, Associate Justice Harold Eaton along with Superior Court judges Heather Gray and Daniel Richardson. Professor Peter Teachout, of Vermont Law and Graduate School, will also be on the panel, which will be moderated by VBA President, Judith Dillon. There will be an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists after the presentation.
The event will also be livestreamed at vermontlaw.edu/live. If you can go in person, however, you will get a pocket Constitution!
