The Board of Managers of the Vermont Bar Association approved the creation of a section for Public Utilities Law at its meeting on Oct. 23. The first chair of the section is Joslyn L. Wilschek of the Wilschek, Iarrapino Law Office in Montpelier, and Will Dodge, of Downs Rachlin Martin, will serve as co-chair.
This Section will provide an opportunity for attorneys that practice before the Vermont Public Utility Commission to collaborate. The Public Utility Commission is an independent, three-member, quasi-judicial commission that regulates the siting of electric and natural gas infrastructure and supervises the rates, quality of service, and overall financial management of Vermont’s public utilities: electric, gas, energy efficiency, telecommunications, cable television (terms of service only, not rates), water, and large wastewater companies.
Joslyn represents petitioners, and public utilities before the PUC with a primary focus on energy, battery storage, the electrical grid, and water. Will represents petitioners primarily in the telecommunications and energy areas.
A forum has been created for the new section on VBA Connect. Any VBA member interested can reach out there to ask questions or make suggestions.
